Error: "The dimensions of xyz do not match the expected size"

The error message "The dimensions of xyz do not match the expected size" while scanning or loading targets can be caused for a number of reasons. Depending on the style of shooting, Orion does an initial dimension check on each target images, making sure the target image reasonably has the correct width and height. If for some reason the image does not, Orion displays this error message. The cause can be one of the following:

The Wrong Targets are Used.

Make sure you are only using targets that are supported by Orion. Check Orion's user manual for more information or visit our FAQ page on Orion targets.

The Scanner Drivers need to be reset.

If you are not using Auto-Score, check Orion's user manual for the correct settings.

The Scanner Has Doublefed a Target.

If the scanner feeds two targets, the resulting image may be out of proportion with the standard target size and Orion will not recognize the image as a target. In this case it will be necessary to scan the misread targets again. If this occurs frequently you made need to consult this section regarding doublefeeds

Targets are being scanned with the wrong orientation

With the DR-M160II, DR-C240, DR-3010C and P-208: targets are loaded such that the top of the targets are feed into the scanner first. The aiming bulls should face away. That is to say, if you are looking at the scanner from the front or top, the aiming bulls are not visible.

With the DR-C225 and DR-C125 the targets are loaded such that the bottom of the targets are feed into the scanner first. The aiming bulls should face forward. That is to say, if you are looking at the scanner from the front, the aiming bulls are visible and the targets are right side up.

With the DR-6010C and DR-4010C the targets are loaded such that the top of the targets are feed into the scanner first. The aiming bulls are facing up. That is to say, if you are looking at the scanner from the top, the aiming bulls are visible.

M-260 Only: If you are receiving an error stating "The dimensions of target...do not match the expected size", this is a known issue from Canon; please click here for the work-around

The Scanner's Document Guides are not Flush with the Targets.

If the scanner's document guides are not flush with the targets, the target can get scanned at an odd angle. Too large of an angle and the result image's dimensions may be off. Simply make sure the guides are flush with the targets.
