Exporting data to an Excel file

There are three ways to export data out of Orion. In each instance Orion creates CSV files, which stands for comma-separated values. CSV files are widely supported by a number of spreadsheet applications, including Excel.

Option One: Comprehensive or Essential Data File

The Essential Data file contains the most commonly used data elements from a match, such as athletes name, categories, series scores, stage scores, and event scores. Orion's comprehensive data file is just that, comprehensive. It contains every piece of data available from a match.

1.From within Orion, open the desired match.

2.Off of the menu, click on "Match" then "Export Results" and then "Comprehensive Data File" or "Essential Data File" as desired.

3.Orion will export the data and display a message box with the file's location.

Option Two: Result Text Files

Result Text Files contain exactly the same information as the printed ranked results. These are useful if you wish to format the results with your own style. Orion will create one CSV file for each result.

1.From within Orion, open the desired match.

2.Off of the menu, click on "Match" then "Export Results" and then "Result Text Files"

3.Orion will export the data, creating many files, and display a message box with the files' location.

Option Three: Result Center CSV Files

When a match is listed on the Result Center, Orion can generate CSV online. The online CSV files contain essentially the same data as shown on the result pages, with the inclusion of the athlete's series' scores. These files are available to any Internet user.

1.Open Result Center (www.orionresults.com), and navigate to the desired match.

2.Open the desired result page.

3.Click on the link, near the top, that says "CSV File."

4.Most browsers will ask if you want to open the file or save it. It is usually easiest to open the file.
